What is UV Printing and Surrounding Information

What is UV Printing?

Many customers today are curious about what UV printing is. Although there are various printing technologies available, UV printing stands out for its numerous outstanding advantages, delivering perfect and sharp print quality down to the smallest detail. To get detailed information about UV printing, don’t miss the information we share below!

UV Printing – A Popular Printing Technology Today

Understanding UV Printing

So, what is UV printing? UV printing is a technology where UV ink is sprayed directly onto the material and immediately dried by UV lamps. This printing technology is gradually replacing products printed with Dye, Solvent, and other inks. Major brands like McDonald’s, AEON, HSBC, etc., use UV printing standards for advertising items such as lightboxes and signs, which must be printed using genuine UV printers.

Popular Types of UV Printing Today

UV Printing on Roll Materials

UV roll printing is known for its special drying mode using UV lamps to enhance ink adhesion and durability. This type of printer can print on various materials such as decals, backlit film, silk fabric, canvas, and non-ribbed hiflex.

During the UV printing process, the print head moves, maintaining a certain distance from the printing surface to avoid ink smudging that could damage the print head. UV ink is securely contained, and exposure to light does not damage the ink. After the ink is sprayed onto the material’s surface, it is rolled up. The ink layer on the print surface is illuminated and dried by the UV lamp system.

Due to the rigorous UV printing process, the cost is relatively high and is often used for long-lasting products like wall paintings, UV-printed paintings, lightboxes, and premium signs.

UV Printing on Flat Materials

UV flatbed printing offers similar image and quality to UV roll printing but with some differences:

  • UV flatbed printers can print on a wider range of materials than UV roll printers.
  • Only prints on flat-surfaced materials.
  • Can print white and multiple layers of ink.
  • Printing costs are 2 to 3 times higher than UV roll printing.

Advantages of UV Printing

In addition to understanding what UV printing is, many customers seek answers about its advantages. The rapid trust UV printing has gained from numerous customers and printing workshops is due to the following outstanding features:

Aesthetic Value

High aesthetics is a standout feature of UV-printed products. The surface of UV printing has a shiny finish and can be textured or flat depending on customer requirements.

Durability

UV printing has high ink durability, with minimal color change or deformation over time. Few products can maintain color longevity like UV printing. Particularly, UV-printed products have a lifespan of over 10 years.

Safety Assurance

Today, many printed products contain harmful substances that affect users’ health with prolonged exposure. Understanding this, manufacturers have introduced UV printing products to address these shortcomings.

UV printing is also superior as it can print on various materials, is environmentally friendly, and creates special printing effects like glossy, raised, metallic, and sand UV printing.

Current Applications of UV Printing

Because it can print on various materials, UV printing is applied in many scenarios, such as:

  • Creating decorative paintings.
  • Making nameplates and signs for companies and businesses.
  • Used for gift products and decorations.
  • Printing banners for conferences and events.
  • Printing on natural stone to create feng shui paintings for home decoration.
